The teachers in Konkourona come from other villages which are too far to travel to and from every day, and the only housing available is a small, two room structure infested with bats. As a result, teachers often leave as soon as they can find work under better conditions.
Together with Mami Siara Na, we are building 4 new houses for teachers and their families and will renovate the existing housing to improve conditions and eliminate the bat problem. By the time classes start again in October, the new houses will be finished.
There are 7 teachers and a Director (Principal), so we will need to build more as soon as we can fit it into the budget, but this is a good start at fixing the existing problem.
