Konkourona Alliance Foundation (KAFO), Inc. is a charity organization created to help break the cycle of poverty in one small village. KAFO aims to bring new hope and opportunities to the people living in Konkourona, Burkina Faso through access to education, healthcare, water and sanitation, economic development and environmental protection in our First Mile Community Development Program (FMCDP).

Dr. Jules Millogo, MD, MSc, is a public health physician with more than 30 years of experience. In 2019, Dr. Millogo founded the Konkourona Alliance Foundation (KAFO), Inc. to expand support in education, healthcare and provide better access to water and sanitation.

Dr. Jules Millogo, MD, MSc, is a public health physician with more than 30 years of experience working in developing countries at national and international levels in support of primary healthcare, immunization and injection safety. Dr. Millogo has been supporting empowerment of the citizens of Konkourona, Burkina Faso for over 30 years through support of education, healthcare and business development. In 2019, Dr. Millogo founded the Konkourona Alliance Foundation (KAFO), Inc. to expand his efforts to include improvement of primary education for all children in Konkourona, support for more secondary education for those children who progress to middle school, provide access to healthcare, and provide access to clean water and sanitation. He holds a Medical Degree from the University of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso and a Master of Science (MSc) in Epidemiology of Communicable Diseases from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, United Kingdom.

She has supported many international efforts to make progress on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to end extreme poverty, reduce inequality, and protect the planet by 2030. In 2019, Catherine founded the Konkourona Alliance Foundation (KAFO), Inc. to support empowerment of the citizens of Konkourona to improve access to education, health care, water and sanitation. Catherine holds a B.S. in Biology from Ursinus College, Pennsylvania, United States, and is currently on the Board of Directors for the Keystone Opportunity Center in Souderton, Pennsylvania, dedicated to empowering community members in the United States to be self-sufficient. Further, she is President Elect of the Souderton-Telford Rotary Club dedicated to “Service Above Self.”

Gail Houseman, RN, CNS-BC, is a registered nurse with almost 40 years of experience in direct patient care and education of prospective nurses. Gail is a founding member, she helps provide strategic and financial oversight of empowerment projects in Konkourona.

Gail Houseman, RN, CNS-BC, is a registered nurse with almost 40 years of experience in direct patient care and education of prospective nurses. For the past 20 years, she has been working in a non-profit organization dedicated to helping patients with ALS. She has supported many volunteer efforts to improve health care and education in the United States throughout her life and has had a lifelong desire to support development in Africa. Gail has two adopted daughters, one from China, and one from Guatemala and views the world without boundaries between people. She is committed to helping others live their best lives possible. Gail is a founding member of the Konkourona Alliance Foundation (KAFO), Inc. Board of Directors and helps provide strategic and financial oversight of empowerment projects in Konkourona.

Roland W Sutter, MD, MPH&TM is a public health “doc” with more than 30 years of professional experience working with children in developing countries. Dr. Sutter is retired from CDC and WHO, and now focuses his energies to support innovative community health and development projects.

Roland W Sutter, MD, MPH&TM is a public health “doc” with more than 30 years of professional experience working with children in developing countries. Dr. Sutter attended medical school at the University of Zurich, where he obtained his medical degree and completed his basic clinical training. He also holds a master degree in Public Health and Tropical Medicine from Tulane University in New Orleans. Thereafter, he joined the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), first as an Epidemic Intelligence Service trainee, then as a resident in preventive medicine, and finally as a staff and supervisor working on vaccine preventable diseases, especially polio eradication. To expand his role to the global level, CDC seconded Dr Sutter to the World Health Organization (WHO) where he led polio eradication´s efforts in research, production development and policy. Currently, Dr. Sutter is retired from CDC and WHO, and now focuses his energies to support innovative community health and development projects (“making a difference”) to ensure children in the poorest communities have the opportunity to thrive and succeed.

Irène Millogo, MS, currently owns and operates a hair care business in Ghana, building on experience gained through support of economic development activities in Senegal, Tunisia and Ghana. Irène is instrumental in identifying the needs for women, developing financial accountability and sustainability planning for MSN.

Irène Millogo, MS, currently owns and operates a hair care business in Ghana, building on experience gained through support of economic development activities in Senegal, Tunisia and Ghana. She started working with KAFO as a consultant in 2019 and joined the Board of Directors in 2022. Irène is instrumental in identifying the needs of women in Konkourona and developing financial accountability and sustainability plans for the village association, MSN. She holds a B.S. in Accounting and Financial Techniques and an M.S. in Accounting and Financial Management from the African Center for Higher Studies in Management (CESAG).

Edmond Millogo has an Associate’s Degree in Accounting and Financial Management. He is leading the Sponsor a Child Program in Burkina Faso. Erica Valles was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, in the same hospital she worked at after graduating with a bachelor’s in nursing. Erica also volunteered in Burkina Faso in 2019 and 2022, meeting the children of Konkourona who inspired her to join KAFO.

She now travels to understaffed intensive care units around the United States. Erica also volunteered in Burkina Faso in 2019, and became passionate about making a difference. Meeting the children of Konkourona inspired her to join KAFO.

Benjamin Adabrah, currently owns and operates a car resale business in Ghana. He has degrees in network administration, IT, and Automobile Engineering, and Automotive Mechanics. He joined KAFO as a shipping coordinator and IT consultant.

Shreya Harikrishnan was born in St. Paul, Minnesota and is currently a junior at North Penn High School in Pennsylvania. She was raised by a single mom and the experiences along the way have instilled in her a strong sense of gratitude and a passion to give back to society. From a young age, Shreya has been involved in service through the spiritual organization, SSIO, and has also been greatly inspired by her grandmother’s selfless service. Shreya strongly believes in the message of Love All, Serve All and is motivated by the goals of KAFO to help make a difference in the lives of people in Konkourona.

Philippe Emmanuel was born in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. He moved to the United States where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies. He is currently a middle school Special Education teacher and an athletic coach. Philippe is passionate about working with kids and believes in education. KAFO is an opportunity for him to make an impact for the future generation of his birth country.
Mami Siara Na de Konkourona (MSN)
The Association Mami Siara Na de Konkourona (Association for the Wellbeing of Konkourona), or MSN, is legally recognized by the government of Burkina Faso as a tax-exempt charitable organization. MSN was set up to make decisions about development projects needed and mobilize the community to support those projects. It is led by Victorien Millogo, KAFO’s Field Program Director, and it has over 400 members. Members provide labor for construction projects and ensure community support for improvement of education, healthcare, water and sanitation. MSN will be responsible for sustainability of all improvements, maintaining community buildings and programs, such as the Konkourona Primary School, the Primary Health Center (PHC), the water system for the PHC, the latrines, and more.
